Natural Dyes & Peddle Loom Woven

The Zapotec weavers of Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca have been weaving blankets, garments and tapestries for over 3,000 years. Originally cotton, on backstrap looms; later, wool on peddle looms, the Zapotec weavers are masters of adaptation and balancing deep roots and heritage with new markets. We invite you to view these beautiful pieces, woven by the master dyers, weavers of Centro de Arte Textil Zapoteco, Bii Dauu, the Zapotec word for sacred wind/breath.
